Features

Ergonomics, Visibility and Optimization
Longer spraying days and nights and higher spraying speeds place heavier demands on comfort and easy operation.

ALPHA evo features a fine balance between front and rear and has a low total weight giving an optimal weight/capacity ratio and high performance even under wet field conditions. Also the high ground clearance from 61 in./67 in. gives a flexible usage from low to tall crops as sweet corn and sunflowers.

Optimizes visibility with 3-pillar design
The new large spacious EvoCab II is specifically developed by HARDI with its “3-pillar design”, which provides a new standard for visibility with more than 320° around the sprayer.

The cabin is equipped with a pressurization system, a dust filtering of fresh air, an aerosol and vapor filtering to protect the driver and fulfill the Class 4 requirements.

The new climate control system has been tested intensively in climate chamber in order to bring highest driver comfort in warmest condition.

Float Ride suspension
By equipping the ALPHA with the optional Float Ride, the standard coil spring suspension is replaced by airbags. This ensures even more boom stability and maintains balance of the ALPHA in strong slope. The chassis’ height will be maintained whatever tank volume.

By allowing for individual wheel movement, the ALPHA provides a maximum comfort, even at high spraying speeds through a wheel travel of 33 mph.

Hydraulic Track width Adjustment
The ALPHA evo EcoDrive with Float Ride suspension can be equipped with Hydraulic Track width Adjustment. This Hydraulic Track width Adjustment axle allows a track width from 88 to 126 in. (depending on tire dimensions).

The driver will set his track width from the cab display and will be ready to drive. This will allow changing track width from the road to the field and from cereal crop to maize, row crop or vegetable with a variation of 1 m between minimum and maximum.

Frame
Designed to overcome the limitations associated with high speeds on the road and in the field, the ALPHA chassis achieves the maximum working comfort.

The chassis is made of high tensile steel (DOMEX® Swedish steel) and consists of U-shaped beams with riveted cross-members to offer lightness and flexibility.

The position of the main components (engine, main tank, rinsing tank, tanks, pump etc.) has been specially studied to optimize the weight distribution between the front and rear axles, which guarantees the best drive-ability and preserves the soil structure.

Spring suspension
Simplicity and reliability are maintained with the HARDI suspension principle, which offers a very natural and optimal movement over obstacles. It allows an excellent follow-up of the ground for optimum traction and increases the operator’s comfort.

This mounting is a great benefit, limiting the strain on the chassis and increasing the longevity.

The front axle works with two helical springs, while in the rear a helical spring with an adjustable shock absorber is built in at the center of the chassis. Due to its anti-roll design the rear axle movements do not disrupt the stability of the boom.

This Hydraulic Track width Adjustment axle allows a track width from 180 to 280 cm or from 210 to 320 cm (depending on tire dimensions).

The driver will set his track width from the cab display and will be ready to drive in no time. This will allow changing track width from the road to the field and from cereal crop to maize, row crop or vegetable with a variation of 1 m between minimum and maximum.

Steering systems
Four-wheel drive / two- and four-wheel steering
The three different steering systems make the ALPHA evo versatile in operation. On the road you drive as usual with the front axle steering, whereas during spraying operation the advantages of the all-wheel steering or the manual crab movement steering is used.

In four-wheel steering the turning radius measured in the middle of the machine is only 182 in., which is extremely small. This ensures a maximum maneuverability, even in small fields, and in addition increases the area output. On the other hand, on slopes, the use of the manual crab movement steering allows, for example, to steer against the rear wheels to stabilize the track following.

Turning radius
Due to the small tire and bracket dimension of only 22 in., the narrow turning radius and a 100 % alignment of the wheels, the crop damage is reduced to the absolute minimum.

The turning radius with four-wheel steering and 78.7 in. track width is only 282 in. measured in the middle of the chassis.

Four-wheel steering is possible with boom folded in.

The wheel base of the ALPHA evo is 147.6 in. This ensures a stable machine when driving, also in rough terrain.

Superb surface treatment
The high-technology surface treatment contains 13 treatments, including a pre-treatment and powder coat painting of all major components.

Together with the Delta/Magni treatment of nuts, bolts and other items, we supply high corrosion protection of our products.

Engine Deutz Stage IV / Tier 4 final
High torque and low fuel consumption

The ALPHA evo is equipped with water-cooled 6-cylinder inline engines with turbocharging, charge air cooling and cooled external exhaust gas re-circulation. Two-stage turbocharging for the highest performance requirements.

Engine and exhaust after-treatment (EAT) is optimized for highest total system efficiency and thus ensure minimized fuel and total operating costs.

The powerful DEUTZ Common Rail (DCR®) injection system and the electronic engine control (EMR 4) with intelligent link to the drive management (EcoDrive) ensure optimum engine performance with a low fuel consumption.

Access to engine
The best accessibility on the market

Service and maintenance of the ALPHA evo II self-propelled sprayer are very easy and practical.

The opening of the bonnet by tipping the hydraulic hand pump gives easy access to main engine components.

Checking oil level and various filters is done very quickly. There is also excellent accessibility to the fuel tank on the right side of the sprayer.

The ALPHA evo II offers an high fuel tank capacity (85 gal. diesel tank).

EcoDrive
High flexibility and lower fuel consumption

The EcoDrive management system with Tier 4 245 hp engines gives more power flexibility, less noise and more than 30 % reduction of fuel consumption, especially in road transport.

The ALPHA evo II is equipped with two controllable axial piston pump driven by the engine. The pumps provide the hydrostatic drive with hydraulic power, allowing you to adapt the traveling speed to the conditions of the area and the crop. The speed limiter of the EcoDrive system maintains the same driving speed (up to 15.5 mph in turtle position) and allows a comfortable regulation and a constant low engine speed.

As an option the transmission can be upgraded to a powerful transmission with bigger wheel motors at the rear, to bring, depending on the option, +50% or 25% higher torque in field mode.

EvoCab cabin
EvoCab optimizes visibility with 3-pillar design

The large and spacious EvoCab is specifically developed by HARDI with its “3-pillar design”, which provides a new standard for visibility with more than 320° around the sprayer.

Ergonomics
By developing the new EvoCab, HARDI's main focus has been the driver ergonomics.
All switches which have to be used when driving are placed as close as possible to the driver.

All primary switch functions have been placed on the new Spray Center following the seat and consequently the driver.

Secondary switch functions are grouped on the roof just above the operator's head and easily touchable from the driver's seat.

Optimization
With Ergonomics and Visibility – Optimization was the third high focus area when developing EvoCab. Operator environments as Automatic climate control, space, sound level or Class 4 filtering have been developed to give maximum comfort and minimum stress to the driver.

HARDI Spray Center
The pilot can operate all spray and hydraulic functions directly from the cab with the right hand located arm rest Spray Center. The HC 9600 12.1’’ touchscreen controller is featuring an integration of all eletronic functions as Auto Steering system, Auto Height, Auto Section Control and other intelligent features as Auto Fill, Auto Wash, Auto Agitation etc.

All functions are fully controlled from the cab and underline the level of optimization, the pilot can gain from this machine.

Work Zone
All primary functions needed to operate the sprayer if not from cabin when filling or cleaning have easy access located in the center of the Work Zone.

The logically placed Fluid Box and the easy to read color coded icons make the system very easy to understand and operate. This greatly reduces the start-up and operation time of the sprayer.

  • Easy and convenient
  • All functions grouped together
  • Colour coded for safety
  • Self-fill connections
  • Remote engine throttle and pump controls
  • 108 gal. rinse tank

A 47.5 gal. Storage Locker for chemical containers or bags are standard on the ALPHA evo.

Pump
To meet the requirements of bigger sprayers and to improve lifetime, HARDI offers the 464 pump. A reduction in pressure drop has been avoided by improving the flow in the diaphragm tops. To easy service, we have integrated lifting hooks while moving two greasing points to the front, to easy lubrication of the front and the rear of the pump. The casted conrod support ring has also been redesigned for improved mechanical life time. The most visible change is the new covers designed to protect the pump from mud and water getting into the system.

  • Self-priming
  • Able to run dry without damage
  • Easy to service
  • Grease-lubricated crankcase

Easy Clean filter
The Easy Clean filter is a high capacity suction filter. The condition of the filter can be constantly monitored via a Safe Spray vacuum gauge.

This ensures that the filter is cleaned when needed and only when needed. When cleaning the filter, all you have to do is to twist the lid 90°. This will close a main tank valve in the bottom of the filter and open the filter for inspection.

Cyclone Filter
The HARDI Cyclone Filter is a unique self-cleaning pressure filter that uses a high-speed cyclone for additional cleaning action. The cyclone action increases the cleaning capacity of the filter significantly.

In addition, the Cyclone Filter has a unique boost function allowing the filter to be flushed when needed.

Unique cyclone action greatly improves the self-cleaning action
The cyclone created inside the filter increases the speed of the liquid against the filter screen, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the self-cleaning action.

Filter is fitted in an upright position
The filter is fitted in such a position that spill can be avoided when inspecting the filter. This ensures fewer stops and reduced pressure loss in the liquid system.

Dynamic Fluid 4 liquid system
Dynamic fluid system based on 4-sensor technology
The fluid system on the ALPHA evo is a new concept developed to obtain shorter response time and thereby more precise application in the field.

New powerful engines on the ALPHA evo and the hydrostatic transmission have given new driving patterns with more variance in the speed and faster acceleration, factors which together with the GPS controlled section control is challenging for the performance of the liquid system. In a traditional fluid system the regulation is made on feedback from what is already “historical” data. For example the RPM is increased, and shortly after the flow will be too high at the nozzle. When that is measured, the spray computer will regulate the pressure down again but in the meanwhile the application rate has been too high.

The Dynamic Fluid 4 system will calculate the consequences of the increased RPM and make the regulation instantly. The Dynamic Fluid 4 property of pro-acting is based on 4 sensors in the fluid system measuring RPM, position of regulation valves, flow and pressure. Together with new software and new unique ceramic regulation valve, Dynamic Fluid 4 is offering precision in the application rate giving the best performance available on the market.

Main tank / Rinse Tank
Very low center of gravity
The tank has a low profile and a deep sump ensuring a low center of gravity. The position of the tank is between the axle so the weight distribution is not much influenced by the filling level.

Efficient agitation
Because of the tank design, agitation towards the sump is very effective.

Very deep central tank sump
The sprayer is completely emptied even on slopes up to 10 degrees – uphill or downhill.

Easy to rinse inside with tank rinsing nozzles
100% of the tank can be “seen” by the rinsing nozzles. No sharp corners prevents sedimentation of pesticide.

Easy to clean outside
The smooth surface of the tank makes the machine very easy to clean.

Rinse Tank
The Rinse Tank is integrated in the main tank and has a capacity of 108 gal. providing adequate liquid for both inside and outside cleaning. The Rinse Tank can easily be filled from the platform and from the soil.

Turbo Filler
The HARDI Turbo Filler is developed to handle large quantities of powders and liquids. Its high capacity is achieved through a combination of high vacuum and liquid rotation produced by a Turbo Deflector inside the hopper.

High mixing capacity
Liquid at high pressure is being used to create a powerful rotation of the liquid inside the hopper. This movement gives the effect that every powder or liquid chemicals are mixed before they are sucked into the sprayer. The highest capacity is achieved when the Turbo Filler is more than half-filled with water.

Optimum filling height
A spring-loaded bracket with transport lock makes it easy to change from field to filling position. The filling position is approx 37.4 in. from the ground.

HC 9600
All the main spray functions are at your fingertips. The multi-function joystick in conjunction with the 12.1” touchscreen provides the HC 9600 user with the highest level of performance available.

The HC 9600 controller provides growers with a powerful and full featured precision farming tool. Features include guidance, data logging, application reports, GPS controlled spraying, automated steering and more!

ISOBUS
The ALPHA can be operated with a virtual ISOBUS terminal and use the intelligent functions like AutoWash direct from his own ISOBUS terminal.

Auto Section Control
Open and close boom sections automatically
Auto Section Control manages the sections when driving over sprayed area like into a headland or wedge or around obstacles like trees etc.

HC 9600 has Auto Section Control as a standard feature and only need to be connected to a GPS receiver. When spraying, the Auto Section Control automatically records the area sprayed. In a typical situation where the headland is sprayed first, Auto Section Control will now automatically close the sections if the operator passes over a sprayed area.

Fluid Box
The Fluid Box is used in conjunction with Auto Agitation, Auto Fill and Auto Wash. It is a remote control of the liquid system and is logically placed at the filling area.

All the stationary spraying operations can be performed without the need to enter the tractor cabin. This is a time saver and greatly reduces potential cabin contamination.

Other operations, like activation of the main ON/OFF, can also be done; a useful feature when checking nozzles.

Auto Wash
HC 9600 manages the operation to obtain maximum cleaning effect from rinse water. Up to six rinse circles reduce the residual concentration to a very low level, so that after refilling for the next spray job, there is no risk of left over plant production products.

Auto Fill
Ease the tank filling process for the operator

  1. Actual tank content is read on the HC 9600 screen
  2. The operator sets the fill volume from tractor cabin
  3. Operator goes to the work area, connects the hose and starts the job via the FluidBox
  4. The Smart Valve closes when the fill volume is reached

Auto Agitation / Tank Gauge
Automatic agitation to ensure maximum tank agitation
As the tank empties, the computer regulates the flow to prevent foam, and minimizes liquid residues when the tank is empty.
When filling, Auto Agitation ensures maximum Fast- Filler capacity.
Different programs can be selected for optimal agitation.
A manual override is possible from the Fluid Box.
Auto Agitation is a standard feature with Auto Fill and/ or Auto Wash.

Tank Gauge
Tank Gauge is an electronic tank contents sensor which is standard when the ALPHA evo has Auto Agitation.
The filling level is measured, and an automatic onscreen tank contents readout is possible. A warning for low tank contents can be set up.

TWIN FORCE boom
The ultimate in capacity, weather independence and application technology
The biggest challenge is timing due to weather conditions. Let’s take control. With the HARDI TWIN system, air will help you control the wind. You are in control of the speed and angle giving you the possibility of covering the whole plant, from top to bottom.

The ideal high capacity solution
Spray drift from conventional sprayer can be so strong that the operator has to stop before having the spray job done. With efficient drift control it is much easier for the operator to be able to spray the entire field.
Under most conditions the farmers get at least twice as many hours for a safe and efficient spray job with the TWIN sprayer compared to conventional spraying.

Up to 100% more spray capacity

Timing is everything! The results overleaf show that during Spring 2015 the wind conditions for conventional spraying would only allow 31 days of spraying whilst using a TWIN Force you would gain over 45 extra days suitable for spraying. At the same time you can spray faster and have less filling time from reduced water consumption.

Increased spray opportunities, reduced drift, reduced chemical usage, accurate placement, faster spraying speed, result in improved economy!

Save up to 30% on chemicals
Many trials throughout the years have shown a better chemical efficacy using TWIN.
This gives the opportunity to adjust the chemical dose, and at some markets we see up to 30% reduction in chemicals consumption at the farm through the season.

  • Up to 100% more spray capacity
  • Save up to 30% on chemicals
  • Reduced drift
  • Better penetration in the crops
  • Improved spraying economy
  • Lower water consumption
  • Faster spraying speeds
  • More than 30 years' experience

Boom management systems

Auto Height and Auto Terrain
The HARDI Auto Height and Auto Terrain systems will automatically control the boom
This makes the job much easier for the driver, and the result will be a better spray application. The system is known for the following features:

  • Robust and precise ultrasonic sensors
  • Option to choose between soil, crop or hybrid mode
  • Proportional valve for smooth movements (Auto Height, Auto Terrain)
  • Slant, tilt and height correction (Auto Height, Auto Terrain)
  • Auto Terrain works and reacts on both boom movements and twisting forces on the boom. This allows the system to be proactive and react on the cause more than on the symptom.
